Lime and carbon dioxide are used to increase water pH, hardness and alkalinity. Lime dosing involves 6 tonnes of lime per day while approximately 2 tonnes of CO2 per day is injected into the system. Chlorination and fluridation take palce downstream of the stabilisation process. Drinking water is stored in a storage tank that can hld 12,500 m3 of water and transferred to Thomson Reservior 11 km away from the water pumping station.
